Extreme
- En español, extreme quiere decir “extremo, mucho más de lo que es normal.” Es normal que llueva un día. Si llueve todos los días durante una semana, eso es extremo.
- Extreme means “much more than what is usual.” It is not unusual to have a rainy day. If it rains every day for a week, that is extreme.
Predict
- En español, to predict quiere decir “predecir; adivinar lo que pasará más adelante.” Algunas pistas te ayudan a hacer predicciones. Por ejemplo, si ves unos niños en la parada del autobús, puedes predecir que pronto llegará el autobús.
- To predict means “to guess what will happen.” When you predict something you use clues to help you. For example, if you see children standing in line at a bus stop, you can predict that a school bus will soon come to pick them up.
Breeze
- En español, breeze quiere decir “brisa; viento leve.” En el otoño, la brisa alborota las hojas. Puedes ver las hojas volar con la brisa.
- A breeze is a light wind, a wind that is not very strong. In the fall, the breeze blows the leaves on the ground. You can watch the leaves fly around in the breeze.
Commotion
- En español, commotion quiere decir “conmoción; mucho ruido y alboroto.” Cuando mucha gente habla al tiempo en un salón pequeño, pueden crear una conmoción. Si todos nos levantamos al mismo tiempo y corremos hacia la puerta, podemos crear una conmoción.
- A commotion is a time when there is a lot of noise and confusion. Too many people talking loudly at once in a small room can cause a commotion. If we all get up at once and run to the door, we can have a commotion.
Conditions
- En español, conditions quiere decir “condiciones; modo de estar.” Nuestro salón está en buenas condiciones. Puedes decidir cómo vas a vestir según las condiciones del clima. Por ejemplo, en un día lluvioso y frío, hay que llevar un impermeable y un paraguas.
- Conditions are what it is like around you. The conditions in our classroom are warm and dry. You can decide what you will wear outdoors by checking the weather conditions. For example, if the conditions are rainy and cold you would wear a coat and use an umbrella.
Forecast
- En español, forecast quiere decir “pronosticar, predecir.” Las personas pronostican el clima. Esto ayuda a otros a decidir qué ropa usar.
- When you forecast, you make a prediction. People usually forecast about the weather. People forecast the weather to help others decide what to wear for the day.
Tranquil
- En español, tranquil quiere decir “tranquilo, pacífico, quieto.” Para dormir bien, hay que buscar un lugar tranquilo. Si estás en un cuarto sin ruido, estás en un lugar tranquilo.
- Tranquil means “peaceful and quiet.” If you want to go to sleep, you want to be in a tranquil place. If you are in a quiet room, you are in a tranquil place.
